Here is a date day planned for you that is different from your regular wine tours! (Even though, yes we all love wine 😉 but if you need some new date ideas, here goes)
Morning: Head to a Lavender Field!
It opens at 10am on Saturdays, so we arrived then, and we were the first ones there! It is SUCH a cute farm. You can either pay $5 each to roam the the fields (and you get that money back as a gift card if you buy something in their store). OR you can go online and buy tickets for 2 different options:
- Pick your own lavender from the farm for $15 – get those tickets here
- Book a lavender picnic lunch and then pick your own lavender – this is SO cute! We didn’t know about this before hand, but saw people with picnic baskets and it looked adorable and the food looked delicious! – get tickets for this here
The grounds of this lavender field was so fun to explore too! They have an antique shop you can look through, and a cute boutique that sells all things essential oils (obsessed with lavender oil!). The boutique also has lavender water to taste (for free!) and lavender baked goods. Apparently they sell lavender peach ice cream, but their machine was out of order when we went (tear..). You can also walk through their aromatic greenhouse full of amazing smells! PLUS they have free walking tours 7 days a week at each hour on the hour from 11-3 if you want to learn more about the lavender and their history. We bought some lavender plants for our garden before heading out!
Lunch: Head downtown to the strip of NOTL
We parked on a side street near Queens Royal Park (map location here)
There’s a cute gazebo here for a photo op, and it is right on the Niagara River so has a great view!
The weekend we went they were having an event called Artistry by the Lake, which was a craft show with venders that you could walk around and shop. They have different events every weekend in the summer! Check out the calendar before you head down to see whats going on!
Restaurant! If you’re lucky enough to get a bright, sunny day like we had, go to a patio! We ate at
The Epicurean and it was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend. If you walk past the left of the front entrance, they have a nice patio in the back. Shawn had the Chicken Club Pesto Wrap and Steph had the Mediterranean Flatbread (SO GOOD!). We also had their Sangria which was great!
We couldn’t leave without getting ice cream at COWS! Check out their flavours! There was a pretty big line, but when you taste it, you’ll know why!
Afternoon: WINE OR HIKE
If you’re not tired yetttt, here are two options for you:
- WINE TIME. Our favourite wineries are Konzelmann – try the peach wine! It’s amazing and not sold anywhere else! Or Inniskillin – we just love their wine, and the grounds you can walk around are pretty!
- HIKE! Drive 20 minutes to the Niagara Glen Nature Centre (you can park here). Behind it there is a set of stairs that leads down to a trail to the Niagara Gorge. It’s gorgeous! Here is a map of the trails you can do!
That’s it! If you enjoyed reading this, there are more date ideas to come! Share it with friends & family and let us know if you go! PLUS this works as an awesome date day for friends as well!
